Good soul food soothes my soul, unfortunately I hate to say I was a bit disappointed with Delta's.  This was my second trip to the restaurant and I can't say I was impressed either time.  The drinks were great, the appetizers were awesome, and the service was impressive but the food wasn't soul food.  Don't get me wrong the food was good, but I wouldn't classify it as down home finger lickin' good soul food.

I would go back for some creative and tasty appetizers and a few more cocktails but I could skip the entree all together.  My favorite?  The Fried Gator!  Fried gator is a lot like crispy fried chicken, but tougher and the way Delta's cooks it gives it a nice hint of spice.  Another awesome option is the collard green dip.  I'm sure you are familiar with spinach dip, well sub out the spinach for collard greens and there you have it.  Tasty with a hint of soul, I sipped on the Grown & Sexy martini (Malibu rum, citrus vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine) and had a good ol' time.

For my entree I had the  Carolina BBQ Platter (Two pieces of BBQ chicken, a half rack of baby back ribs, and fried whiting) all of which were tasty, I paired it with the macaroni and cheese and candied yams.  The mac and cheese is delicious, but the candied yams were just okay.  Instead of the chunks of yams I'm familiar with, these yams were circular and a bit dry.
